If power circuitry is to be ignored, identify the net-lists used for the power circuitry (VCC/GND), and disable these components. It is probably a good idea to document this as a major assumption.
Our example from Step 1 is not large enough to illustrate this point, but most devices will have lines that supply power to the components constituting the device. If we consider information flow over these signals, it can obscure the analysis because too many false positives are produced. This is not to say that consideration of information flow over power rails is not significant, it should just be done separately.
The net-lists can be disabled in the editor by locating the parent component (it will be called "Net Lists"), navigating to a component describing a net-list used for the power circuitry, and then unchecking the Enable option from the right-click context menu.
